No console dropdown, copy as curl, try in elastic, settings.

It's worth noting that this functionality might also be desired in the API docs (in particular, I think I remember seeing a request to be able to change the URL that appears in the curl examples). Similar to the little "Configure Kibana URL" widget that appears below the examples in the V8 docs:

I think by default the assumption is that the URL is defined in the OpenAPI document's server object. So if this is a feature we want to replicate we'd need users to be able to override that value.

Automated curl examples were added to Elasticsearch API reference via elastic/elasticsearch-specification#4514 and in that case they use environment variables for things like the API key, hostname, and port. We didn't do that historically in the "copy as curl" functionality in the old docs, but IMO it's something we should use in the narrative docs too, since it makes it easier to re-use the examples. Here's the curl example for a "create index" API, which uses ELASTICSEARCH_URL and ELASTIC_API_KEY variables :
