Notes
- Our accountant is Peter Buck of TLL Accountants https://tllaccountants.com/our-team/
- Companies House have given us until the 31st July to submit the accounts
- Penalties: the penalties can be quite drastic :(
- Consequences of not filing
Failure to file confirmation statements, annual returns or accounts is a criminal offence which can result in directors being fined personally in the criminal courts. Failure to pay the late filing penalty can result in enforcement proceedings. Any criminal proceedings taken as a result of non-filing of confirmation statements, annual returns or accounts is separate from, and in addition to, any late filing penalty imposed against the company for filing accounts late. There is no late filing penalty imposed on confirmation statements or annual returns that have been filed late. The registrar may also take steps to strike the company off the public record if these documents are delivered late.
Report
We ran into some significant problems with this. We hired an accountant at the start of the year that didn't work out, then we were focused on completing the Comic Relief delivery and then we found out that we were under different legal terms and needed an external agency to fill in the forms. All of this is entirely my fault.
We've re-engaged TLL accountants (they did our accounts in previous years) but their own timescales have meant that we have missed the first deadline and incurred a charge.
The accounts are still outstanding and are our main issue to deal with.
