Desktop specific taskbar icons not working

Under System -> Multitasking, I have the On the taskbar, show all open windows setting set to Only on desktop I'm using.
However this setting is ignored by RetroBar. Windows from all the desktops appear on RetroBar.

In my understanding, this setting has close parallels with multiple displays configuration for RetroBar under the Advanced tab.
Specifically, Show tasks on being set to Same taskbar as window.

Multitasking support could really help many people with their productivity I guess.

Requesting that this feature be supported in some future release.

Are you seeing differently than this?
