Adding string methods to Visual Basic on .NET Core is in a CoreFx issue:

This issue only serves to cross reference that work for people interested.

@KathleenDollard it's great to see more work is being done to bring VB-specific features to .NET Core (and portable libraries). While on the topic of strings, please don't forget the LIKE operator in #26058 (or more broadly, a version of MS.VB.dll with more features since .NET Standard/Core have a rich enough set of APIs to make implementation easier) 👍
