Where is 10.0 for Debian?

I read #5709, which mentions there will still be Debian images, though it will not be the default images. So, is there a reason they are not available yet?

You are correct that the original plan was just to switch between Debian and Ubuntu, between default and optional. After more reflection, we realized that we could simplify our offering to one glibc and one musl distro. Debian and Ubuntu have a great deal of similarity, particularly in a minimal distribution like a container.

Is there a specific reason why you need Debian?

Thanks for the info. No specific reason to use Debian, just need to update parts of my build process to switch to the Ubuntu registries and of course let my customers know.

On our build servers we had issues with using Ubuntu. I really dislike how Canonical decided to use snap packages for dotnet sdks. We wanted to install a few sdks, say 6 and 8, and with Ubuntu dotnet --list-sdks gave us only one. We had to fall back to manual installation script method and wasted time on things that should just work. This problem does not exist on Debian, as you can install different sdks and they see each other. Silent snap installations is one of the main reasons I hate Ubuntu and Canonical and we are going to get rid of them soon from our environments. It is not transparent and causes weird issues.

Instead of using official images based on Ubuntu, I will build my own images based on Debian. I am staying as far away as possible from Ubuntu.

No souls need to be sold. I just installed .NET 10 on Debian 13 following these instructions. Works.
