Visual studio not terminating node.js processes after ending a debug session of .net apps

After terminating running a .net app in visual studio, I go to task manager and can see that the node.js processes are still running and have not been terminated. If this goes on too long my CPU hits 100% and I have to go and manually end all of the node.js processes. Other coworkers are also experiencing this.
