Cardboard uses Google Analytics to collect some usage data. Data collected does not include any personal information such as (but not limited to) bookmarks, links, downloads and apps.

Why collect data ?

Analytics helps having better insights of which cards is the most used, and how. This allows the developer(s) to take better decisions on what to improve based on what users like or don't like.

What is collected ?

Cardboard only collects which card is used, if a link is click (but not the link itself), and which pages are viewed.

For example

  • If a user adds the TopSite card, this will be tracked as Card: Granted: top_sites
  • If a user clicks a link in the History card, this will be tracked as history: Opened
  • If a user navigates to the setting page, this will be tracked as View: settings
  • If a user disables Trends, this will be tracked as Trends: Disabled

Note: You can always inspect the source code to see all tracked events
