Question about resizing directions

is it possible to resize in both directions - vertical and horizontal? (i tried 2 resizers for one iframe - work only one)

Hi,

In theory the code could be made to do that, by adding both as a direction option and the code is then written to manage each axis independently. It would be a three line code change to add that in.

However, when I tried supporting that in the past I always found it caused more problems than you would expect, due to the content then not being sure how to grow in an unconstrained environment. So I found it was always better to have the iframe scale based on the content in one direction and the parent page size in the other.

Can you tell me a little bit more about your use case and I’ll give it some thought as to how it might be solved.

My case is to show html content of email message, i found an example https://kreata.ee/postal-mime/example/ and trying to make something identical

My case is very similar but not exactly the same, you may take a look at https://tblock.net/dte/ just send any "horizontally wide" html email to the address you see. Inside script i have commented solution: //iframe.setAttribute('style', 'width:800px;'); but i don't like fixed numbers. Problem may be not existing at all, but i am almost a zero in frontend

Just so I am clear you want the iframe to scale to the width of the content in the iframe, then the height of the content in the iframe? Normally people scale the width of the iframe to the size of the parent page and then scale the height to fit the content.

If you detect both width and height in the content, it will scale to the initial size, but then won't change size unless you change the content. At which point I can not then predict if the iframe will change the height or the width.

I just had a play with adding both option and it causes a few areas of weirdness. It will get the initial size correct, but if the content changes in the iframe it gets a bit unpredictable. Also it seems the width can only even increase in size. If the content shrinks, then the iframe width doesn't follow it.

Basically I think it will likely get the initial size correct, but then if the content changes it becomes mathematically impossible to determine if the height or width should react to the change.

Been thinking a bit more about this and would it make sense if the width was set by the widest element on the page and then the height flow to the content?
