[Dot Shorthands] VM Implementation

This issue tracks work that needs to be done to support dot shorthands in the VM.

No major implementation needed.
However, we need to make sure that the CFE implementation doesn't generate incorrect kernel ASTs in the VM or uncovers VM bugs.

I'll keep this issue open until we're done the CFE implementation and verifying that implementation is correct.

CFE implementation has been complete for a while and no unusual VM test failures have popped up. Closing for now.
Can re-open if anything comes up.
