Define maximum retry count

Is there any way to set a default maximum retry count?
I looked at the code and it seems like there is no such feature.

Can this be achieved with a step middleware? If so, how?

Ideally the ability to override the strategy of handling errors for particular workflow would come in handy. For some issues I would like to control the instants of time when workflow re-tries. For instance, the first retry in 5 minutes, the second in 7 minutes after first, the third in 15 minutes after the second, and then stop.
So setting implementation of IRetryStrategy with method GetNextRetryTime(workflowInstance, data) would be sufficient for my cases.
But I'm not sure that step middleware would help implementing such solution. It seems that NextRetryTime should be a field of the WorkflowInstance.
