What actually is the license of this software?

(And: Would you consider making it open source at some point so people could contribute/ audit the code/ tweak and compile for special use cases/ adapt to further devices/ ...?)

I'll leave the issue open for an answer from the project owner to your second question regarding making the firmware's source code available and open for contributions.

thank you Sam, i actually added the License file to this github repository to make it clearer. Stuff what i needed to add was added as third party in the licenses - therefore should be fine to go with MIT license. To a later time, i will make this code public available for everyone :).
