A lot of sensors have the standard CONF_NAME or CONF_PREFIX as an option to include a custom name. But you're right, it's easy to change.

Hi, it is not possible to rename entity. You can only set friendly name, but you can't use this new friendly name in dashboard or automations or node-red flows etc.

I renamed entity sensor.mi_h_582d3433806e to mi_h_room1, but I can't use sensor.mi_h_room1 in dashbord. This can be usefull feature, f.e. if the temperature sensor is broken and you want to add new one, you have to rename sensor in every dashboard, node-red flow, automation, grafana etc. It will be nice to have possibility to set the name of sensor directry in configuration.yml.

@Magalex2x14 thank you, I didn't notice, that entity ID is editable:) Sorry for that and thank you for help. So only issue for me now is unsupported sensor LYWSD03MMC:) Any progress here? Can I help somehow?

Would it be possible to read data from a smart flowerpot from Xiaomi (Ropot)? I have the HHCCPOT002 version. This product appeared on the market at the same time as Flower Sensor. It only measures the moisture and conductivity of the soil. Has a built-in rechargeable battery.

@TychoSchenkeveld what sensors do you use? Many do not immediately notice that the battery information is available in the sensor attributes, which allows you to create a template sensor, or use this attribute in automations.
I'll see what can be done with individual entities for batteries after the release of v0.5
