running a node with grpc-only mode not working properly

Summary of Bug

Starting a node with --grpc-only mode results in the following logs:

INF starting node in gRPC only mode; Tendermint is disabled

No other logs or info is produced further.

While running bank balances query command, it says connection refused

Yes, I tested this personally against the main branch where I implemented and had zero issues.

Yes, I tested this personally against the main branch where I implemented and had zero issues.

These are the steps I followed:

1. Run node normally, transfer some tokens to an account
2. Make sure simd q bank balances $acc works
3. Halt the node and re-run with --grpc-only
4. Again run simd q bank balances $acc

Maybe I'm missing something while testing, can you describe how exactly do we test this ?

You cannot do this as that's not how it's intended to work. You have to manually execute the HTTP or gRPC request against the node, i.e. curl or gprcurl

Yup! Just for clarity, the reason why <appd> q * doesn't work is because that creates a connection to Tendermint under the hood, whereas grpc-only mode works against the application only.
