2 displays, different resolution. 2 templates, same assets. scale text for smaller display?

The title says it all. I got 2 devices. one pi with a HD tv attached and a android tablet with a smaller resolution (800x1280).
On both devices i use the same assets.

Most things display just fine, but the text of the assets used on the big display is too large for the tablet. I tried to scale the font-size down with "custom css" in the template, but it doesn't work.
If i make it smaller in the asset css settings it is not readable on the big screen.

Is there a way to solve this?

You can create 2 assets and create 2 groups one for Pi and one for tablet

I understand, but that means i have to edit 2 assets every time i change a message. I was hoping i could do it all in one.
