Bug: Link tool removes existing text formatting

When applying the link tool to already-formatted text (e.g., bold), the editor removes the existing formatting instead of preserving it.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Select some text
2. Apply bold formatting
3. Use the link tool on the bold text

Expected behavior:
The link tool formatting should be applied on top of the existing formatting.
