Trying to use this tool, won't import

Hello,

I hope you're doing well!

I've been trying to use this tool, and I keep getting errors. When I run setup.py install with the version, I get an invalid version error. When I run it without the version, I get:

Hi Hana, Thanks for the email and interest in CoCoTools. My guess (on first glance) is that this is a Python version issue. CoCoTools was written in Python 2.7. You’re probably using Python 3. Is that right? I can’t offer support for Python 3 right now. If you’d like to use CoCoTools, you could set up a virtual environment that runs Python 2.7. Hey Dan,

Thank you for your response! I spent almost two hours rewriting a lot of it to make it work with Python 3, but then I realized that CoCoTools actually queries the old CoCoMac website, which I'm not sure still works. I say this because the code runs now, but I get 0 edges and 0 ebunches. Do you know if there's any link for querying the new CoCoMac webpage? I couldn't find one :(

Thank you for all your efforts btw! This tool would've been such an insane help if it weren't for the website change - I need to use CoCoMac for my dissertation but neither my supervisor nor I can figure out how to use it at all haha

Going back at least to 2011, CoCoMac has unfortunately never been well-maintained or easy to use. Most of the published work that uses CoCoMac data acquired it as data files provided by people like Rolf Kotter, not via queries to the website. (That's my memory of the work, at least; I haven't done anything related to CoCoMac in several years.) CoCoTools should work with CoCoMac 2.0 (the version that was new circa 2014), but if there have been more updates to the website since then, I don't know anything about them. (I doubt there have been any updates, though.) Best, Dan
