Invalid byte opcode: op=183, ptr=2

When I tried to execute cider-jack-in, I got the folloing error:
Invalid byte opcode: op=183, ptr=2

Leiningen 2.8.1 on Java 1.8.0_151 OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM

GNU Emacs 25.2.2

Linux kali 4.14.0-kali3-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.14.12-2kali1 (2018-01-08) x86_64 GNU/Linux

Hi @JosehpJohnston I'm guessing you are following along with the brave clojure setup. What you are seeing are compiled elisp files (.elc) when the elisp interpreter has moved on. Frankly the brave setup is 4 years old and includes the compiled artifacts which is where your issue is.

If you would like to just install CIDER in your current setup check out the helpful manual or use one of the following emacs inits that most likely have CIDER bundled with them.

there are a few setups that would make this straight forward:

• Prelude is maintained by the maintainer of CIDER and is quite nice. It is what I run.
• Doom Emacs I've never run this but I believe it is a standard go to for people
• Spacemacs incredibly polished and "batteries included" emacs starter. Focuses on vim keybinds but i believe has a "holy" mode now if you prefer regular emacs bindings.

At the moment the stable release of CIDER is 0.18 and the development is 0.19. The 0.12 version you have was released on Apr 16, 2016.
