Cherry-pick #2714 onto tag v1.1.1-hotfix1, then run the upgrade-version script to bump to 1.1.2. We should deploy this 1.1.2 of specifically
crates/bindingsASAP, as many users have reported encountering the bug fixed by #2714 .
