Compare / diff between two selected commits #55

Description

@robertorinaldi-dev

What problem does this solve in your daily Git work?

Coming from Fork on Windows: I often need the full diff between two commits (or two points on the graph), not only each commit vs its parent. Examples: what changed between a release tag and HEAD, or between two non-adjacent commits while reviewing history.

Proposed solution

The graph already supports multi-select (Ctrl/Cmd+click, Shift+click). When two commits are selected, add something like Diff these commits (context menu and/or command palette) that shows git diff A B with the same file list + DiffPanel UX used for single-commit diffs.

Nice-to-haves later:

  • Diff against… from a commit menu
  • Optional three-dot / merge-base range (A...B) for branch tips

Alternatives you've considered

  • Built-in terminal: git diff commit1 commit2 (works, but breaks the GUI flow)
  • File history / stepping per-commit parent diffs (not the same as A..B)
  • Forge compare URL in the browser

Context

Checked on v0.20.0 (Linux, AUR angkorgit-bin): the diff engine exposes commit-vs-first-parent only; multi-select is used for cherry-pick / squash / drop. This isn’t on the public roadmap yet, but it’s a daily gap for users coming from Fork / GitKraken.
