Font-Lock

(syntax highlighting) Customize the font-lock-defaults variable to be one of the following

• arm-font-lock-keywords-1
• arm-font-lock-keywords-2
• arm-font-lock-keywords-3

level 1

• +keywords
• +labels

level 2

• +registers

level 3 (default)

• +hexadecimal numbers

Comments

M-; usually maps to comment-dwim. That is what arm-mode does too. However, arm-mode will try to insert /* */ if point is on an empty line. Otherwise arm-mode will just let comment-dwim insert @ or indent the comment.

Indentation

You can change the width of tabs by the variable arm-tab-width default is 4. Pressing tab does what it does in most major modes. It indents with the following rules: Labels will keep whatever indentation the programmer gave them by spaces. Lines following labels will be indented to the right. Lines following non-label lines will be the same as the previous line of code.

If you want to write old ARM code or TAB to insert a tab character then you can customize the variable tab-always-indent

Hooks

when you call arm-mode starts up, it will run two hooks:

• prog-mode-hook
• arm-mode-hook

Installation

Clone or download wherever (usually ~/.emacs.d/elpa/): $ git clone https://github.com/charje/arm-mode Then add this to your .emacs or init.el: (add-to-list 'load-path "~/.emacs.d/elpa/arm-mode") (require 'arm-mode)
