Feature Request - Change Locale at runtime

Hey,
We're trying to change the Locale after launching a browser.
Basically we want to change the spellchecking language.

We can change the initial value here:

However that doesn't allow us to change it later. Or can we somehow "re-initialize" or perhaps run command line args after CEF has been loaded and is running?

What happens if you call CefInitialize multiple times?

@Bodekaer Ask in the CEF Forum, as it's more a question if CEF can do it. If CEF can we can at least teach CefSharp how to ... it might require someone who is not afraid to dabble a bit in C++ but I can think of a few now in that regard 😄

Alternatively in theory it should be possible to CefShutdown() followed by Initialize as @amaitland suggests. But that is currently untested and might need tightening of a few screws here and there ... I don't know what will happen with the way CEF integrates with the windows message loop. See #515 - looks like it would require some work if at all possible ...

I just tried re-initializing the CEF to use another language, but it's not working. It didn't crash but it remains to use the previous language.

Maybe try something like this? Probably have to browse to a new URL after so it spawns a new Render Process. Haven't tested past the fact that it compiles and runs with a single call to Initialize

Ok, you can mark this issue as upstream.
They've confirmed now that they are working on it, and the feature to change settings during runtime (including spell checking language) is apparently in the works.

@myrnazhou I suggest we wait a bit with this then, and just rely on the restart app solution, until CEF supports it.

Just a heads up that currently changing the Locale option to change the spell checking dictionary also changes the context menus items language. Which is probably not expected.

These should be two separate options, one to change the dictionary language during runtime and another to really change the language context menus (and probably other controls) are displayed on.

What's unexpected about that? It's like changing the locale on windows, changes menus, dictionaries.

These should be two separate options, one to change the dictionary language during runtime and another to really change the language context menus (and probably other controls) are displayed on.

Would first need to confirm that Chromium supports the ability to specify them separately, and likely have to submit a patch to CEF.
