Four equal masses are evenly spaced around a circle. Each mass moves around the circle, either clockwise or anti-clockwise, at the same speed. There are four distinct permutations for how these four masses might move. The black spot shows the centre of mass (or average mass) of the four points. This centre of mass either remains stably in centre, or oscillates.
