Description
The IoT DTA API is a RESTful interface that enables a Service Provider to negotiate background data transfer conditions for a large group of UEs (i.e., fleet of IoT devices).
It can be used by a Service Provider to optimize the utilization of network resources for background data transfers when managing an IoT device fleet. A time window and a maximum aggregate bitrate can be expressed as intents for the API. The intention behind offering a time window is to prioritize the transfer of additional traffic during off-peak hours, while the rationale for presenting the maximum aggregate bitrate is to distribute traffic evenly during this period.
The API is specialized for IoT devices providing network configurations focused on IoT use cases. It could be used to schedule background data transfers for non-urgent updates or downloads during off-peak hours. The API's ability to specify maximum aggregate bitrate allows the operator to control the rate at which background data transfers occur. During peak hours, the operator may want to limit the non-urgent tasks (e.g., for background transfers) to ensure that sufficient bandwidth is available for real-time streaming services. On the contrary, during off-peak hours, the operator could increase the bitrate to efficiently utilize available network capacity.
