What does this PR do?

Invalid month or date query parameters on booking pages could be passed into Day.js and later formatted as dates, causing RangeError: Invalid time value and crashing the booking page. This change strictly validates both parameters before initializing the Booker store, derives the month from a valid date when possible, and falls back to the current month otherwise. Invalid URL values are rewritten or removed so the address bar stays consistent with the displayed calendar.

Visual Demo (For contributors especially)

N/A - this is a defensive query-parameter fix with automated regression coverage.

Video Demo (if applicable):

N/A

Image Demo (if applicable):

Mandatory Tasks (DO NOT REMOVE)

  • I have self-reviewed the code (A decent size PR without self-review might be rejected).
  • I have updated the developer docs if this PR makes changes that would require a documentation change. N/A.
  • I confirm automated tests are in place that prove my fix is effective or that my feature works.

How should this be tested?

  • No environment variables or special test data are needed.
  • Run yarn vitest run packages/features/bookings/Booker/utils/normalizeBookerQueryParams.test.ts.
  • Expected result: 3 tests pass, covering invalid values, deriving a month from a valid date, and preserving valid values.
  • Manual verification: open any booking page with ?month=garbage or ?date=not-a-date; the page should load using a safe month and the invalid query parameter should no longer remain in the URL.

Checklist

N/A - the applicable checks above are complete; this focused PR is under the size limit.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The Booker now validates initial month and date query parameters and uses normalized values to initialize its store. Invalid values are discarded, and the month falls back to a valid date’s month or the current month. During initialization, the store updates or removes URL parameters when they differ from the normalized values. Rescheduling now selects delegation credential and recurring-event identifiers for active booking references. Tests cover query normalization and recurring-event ID retention.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Severity of issue fixed: Medium

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 05eb5

Invalid query values now normalize to a safe calendar month, and an empty date parameter is removed from the URL. No production blocker is established; the remaining feedback requests targeted regression tests.

Explanation

The PR includes unrelated changes in [packages/features/bookings/lib/EventManager.ts] and its rescheduling test. The changes add delegationCredentialId and thirdPartyRecurringEventId to a calendar-reference query and test fixture. These changes do not support the invalid Booker query-parameter fix in [#30302].

Fix the clock and use a valid date in the preservation test.

After past dates are rejected, ${currentMonth}-08 is invalid on the ninth through the end of each month. The test will then fail based on the day it runs. Fix the clock for this test and select a date that is valid relative to that clock. Based on learnings, “In tests that depend on the current time … do not rely on actual system time”; use a fake clock for deterministic assertions.

Use the preferred date API across the new helper and tests. These date-only operations do not use explicit timezone handling.

  • packages/features/bookings/Booker/utils/normalizeBookerQueryParams.ts#L14-L14: replace Day.js parsing with strict date-fns or native parsing that rejects calendar rollover.
  • packages/features/bookings/Booker/utils/normalizeBookerQueryParams.ts#L32-L32: format the fallback local month with the same API.
  • packages/features/bookings/Booker/utils/normalizeBookerQueryParams.test.ts#L1-L1: remove the Day.js import after replacing its use.
  • packages/features/bookings/Booker/utils/normalizeBookerQueryParams.test.ts#L25-L25: derive the test month with the replacement API and a fixed clock.

As per coding guidelines, “Use date-fns or native Date instead of Day.js when timezone awareness isn't needed”.

Add rollover-value regression coverage.

The current tests do not exercise the required rollover values. A regression could still reject "garbage" and "2026-99" while accepting "2026-13" or "2026-02-31". Assert that both values fall back to the current month and discard the date.

Suggested fix
     expect(normalizeBookerQueryParams({ month: "garbage", date: "not-a-date" })).toEqual({
       month: "2026-10",

Add a regression test for removing an empty date query parameter.

The Booker tests do not exercise store initialization or removeQueryParam. If the helper reverts to searchParams.get(param), a ?date= key remains in the URL, and the current tests still pass.

Add a store-initialization test that starts with ?date= and asserts that the date key is removed.
