In the Windows Brave Browser, on at least one of my endpoints, multiple versions (including current)…
Brave eventually has the “Always On Top” (AOT) attribute set, so it covers all other windows all the time.
Ugly Workaround: use Windows PowerToys to first Enable (win-ctrl-T) then disable (win-ctrl-T again) AOT. Now it’s off… at least for a few days.
THANK YOU!
Steps to reproduce
IF you have an endpoint w/ this, it’s simple:
- Open Brave browser
- Open any other window. It will be hidden behind Brave, period.
I realize this is painful since not easily reproduced. Hints on diagnosing MOST welcome.
Actual result
Can't see other windows
Expected result
CAN see other windows ;)
Reproduces how often
Intermittent issue
Brave version (brave://version info)
Latest and many before now. (current 1.69.162)
(Can I easily install earlier versions? Happy to invest some round 'tuits to help diagnose...)
Channel information
- release (stable)
- beta
- nightly
Reproducibility
- with Brave Shields disabled
- with Brave Rewards disabled
- in the latest version of Chrome
Miscellaneous information
I’ve tried a full reset. Did nothing.
For now, this feels intermittent.
I use similar extensions in Chrome and never see this. NOT seen on all of my desktops, so I realize there "must be something" ;)
If anybody has diagnostic hints, I'm all ears. Perhaps theres a ProcMon filter I can use to discover what is happening? I don't know what the underlying system call (or whatever) that taggles Always On Top.
(Is there an attribute I might see in browser Developer Tools???)
