When the browser crashes (or if you just close/quit a browser window), when there are multiple tabs open in a window, that group of the tabs will then appear in the Recently closed
drop down menu in Menu --> History
:
When you hover here, you'll see the option to Restore window
which restores all tabs that were open in that window before it was closed:
The problem is that the Recently closed
drop down only holds 8 items — which means that as the user browses, this option to restore the window that holds all those tabs will eventually disappear and no longer become available. This is especially unfortunate for users who have had their browser crash, lose a ton of tabs and are not aware of that this option exists. They will browse normally (or attempt to go back to the sites they were on previously manually), knock this option off the list and not even know it.
I suggest making it so that this option also appears on the general History page (Settings --> History
). That way, the window that held all these tabs will be available to the user for at least 90 days and users who have lost a window (due to a crash, for example) with a large number of tabs open in it can still easily find and restore them.
