Would it be possible to export the simlin-engine to the crates repo? I would like to use an SD model as a service, and in that case, I could just import the simlin-engine crate in my REST wrapper.
@erikvullings sorry for the ... extremely late response here. if you are still interested in this can you let me know? are you/were you planning to use it from other rust code w/ rust types, or would a flatter C-like API be better?
No worries, we all have private lives too ;-)
I guess a binding for TypeScript and Python would be more practical, as it would be much easier to integrate.
In our research, we often start with a simpler approach based on causal loop modelling enhanced with the strength of a relationship, and a reaction delay. This allows us to investigate the strongest path between variables, identify balancing and reinforcing loops, and determine which control variable is most useful for influencing a goal variable. I've developed this app, Marvel, which I hope will become open source too.
However, such an approach can only get you so far, and when more detailed relationships are needed, we often use STELLA (esp for the optimisation features) or Vensim, so it is great that yours is available too. But for integrating it into decision support tools, it currently requires manual coding, and that's why SD as a service would be so practical.
Hi Bobby!
