Using the latest version on Mojave the toolbar icons are corrupted unless I turn off hardware acceleration in Chromium settings. Ignore the text in the image it's just the icons, not sure why screen capture did that. Thanks for all of your work! Edit: Looking through, bug 191 might be the same thing.

As I said in #191, I think the correct solution is for you (the user) to turn off hardware acceleration. Chromium Legacy could force disable it as it already does on older operating systems, but that seems more heavy-handed than necessary (it will be virtually impossible for the user to re-enable if it's forced off).
