You forgot to set __date__ global variable.

I ran the command

 > py codetective.py -ver

and got the error:

show_version()
File "codetective.py", line 890, in show_version
print('Codetective v' + __version__ + ' ' + __date__)
NameError: name '__date__' is not defined

So, I think you forgot to set the global variable date
