Where does one starts writing a toga compatibility layer such as GTK, iOS, etc.?

Can you please state the question more clearly? Toga already comes with GTK, iOS backends.

What exactly are you trying to do / achieve?

A TUI (Textual User Interface) using Toga. I already got the answer on the Gitter IRC channel.
