Hi,

I took a stab at separating out the gui apps from the terminal based ones. Given the nice layout of the repo this wasn't too hard.

This seems to work for me on a fresh copy of Ubuntu 24.04 on WSL. Hopefully the main install.sh shouldn't be affected as I only renamed scripts.

We're not going to pursue a headless installation at this time. There's not enough meat on those bones.

For whatever it is worth, I (and a lot of others) are in this (WSL2) situation and, for whatever combination of reasons, aren't willing to install a pure Ubuntu Desktop OS.

But this project seems to be drawing a lot of attention, which is unearthing a lot of best-in-class tooling that people were not aware of - for example, asdf then mise (what a treat that is!)

So, while a tooling-only version is certainly far from the full Omakase-ideal, I think a lot of people would greatly appreciate a breakfast special. This might also be useful for those who are using ubuntu/debian-based distros whose GUIs are incompatible with this, not just WSL2.

So, I hope that it could be reconsidered and maybe something can be done that wouldn't be onerous to maintain. In lieu of that, I'm just following the repo's activity to keep finding new tool recommendations - not a great use of anyone's time and attention.

Thanks for the consideration!

That's totally fair, Nick. And I'm thrilled that Omakub can help people discover some of the great tools that we've included here. So feel free to take those discoveries and put them into something other combo that just focuses on this. Omakub needs to remain focused to drive forward, and the focus is on providing a full developer environment based on Linux (Ubuntu) ✌️
