It saddens me what your software and user experience has become. It was so great. But your insistence on a network plugin so that u can feel in control has literally screwed everything up.

Its clear that you no longer care about your users - just the money in their pockets. Its sad and frustrating.

BambuStudio is a hot stinking mess. All it does is hang the whole time and I constantly have to click on "Wait to finish". I cant even get to print anything anymore because your software has become more miss than hit. Its all a waiting game now - less print - more wait. I cant even get through the setup wizard. I should have just stayed on the old versions that works and where you all were still sane and cared about your users.

At least before I could use another slicer - but now Im stuck with Bambu studio or an sdcard.

Dont you test? Or does Linux alsmo matter as much as the current user experience?

How to reproduce

Just open it on any Linux system. You will be greeted with the "Setup Wizard is not responding" or "Unititled is not responding" over and over. Its clear that it's trying to do something.

You just wait and wait and wait. Cant print anything. can use

YOu will just hang around and wait while nothing happens.

Project file & Debug log uploads

There is no log in $HOME/.config/BambuStudio/log to attach. On a new install this folder does not exist unless u can get past the initial config.

No project to upload as I cant even get to a point to create one. Frankly - This happens on so many linux distros - how about u freaken just test it yourself.

Pretty sure this will be closed so quick. because of "missing required information". Or "not enough data". If u close it for "Cannot reproduce" you are fibbing. I tried on several Linux distros. All u have to do is try too.

yay. I cleared all the folders and started again. after 5+ minutes of clicking "Wait" I finally made it past the config screen. The login screen is also unresponsive but after clicking "wait" some more I made it past that as well.. finally. My internet connection is sterling. And looking at wireshark while clicking "wait" shows no ongoing internet traffic.

But the problems are not gone. On startup. I have to click "wait" twice before a window even opens. Than after a window finally opens. Its more "wait"....

Also - when exiting - it does not exit. The porocess hangs around for minutes after.

Fedora 43, GNOME 49.2
Same issue. Flatpak/Appimage/built from source, all are entirely unusable. Can't log in via app, have to use browser login.
Hangs forever when adding printer.
All tabs (Prepare, Preview, etc) do not load at all, completely blank.

Running the appimage from CLI returns these two errors indefinitely:
(bambu-studio:601882): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 11:41:39.668: invalid cast from 'wxPizza' to 'GtkCellLayout'
(bambu-studio:601882): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 11:41:39.668: gtk_cell_layout_get_cells: assertion 'GTK_IS_CELL_LAYOUT (cell_layout)' failed

I've had to run a sluggish docker image of the app just to use my printer now.

Have a look at debug_Wed_Dec_24_19_38_22_646743.log.0.

It starts at 19:38:53 - you can see it adds some filament config etc.
Then it starts doing build_filament_ams_list - and this seems to go on for some time. Basically for 5 whole minutes.

Attached is another log - this time for a fresh start and waiting till it's usable... You can see from this log that it takes 3 minutes before it's even usable.

I thought it's just me. I spoke to some other users. Everyone has this problem. At least on Windows and Linux.
I asked the user why they have not complained about the user experience - their literal answer was: "It's been happening since the firmware updates that introduced the network plugin and took away support for my BigTreeTech display I spent money on. They dont care about us anymore and they certainly dont care if we wait for a few minutes to use their software".

So this is what worked for me - but the constant "wait" on startup persists for at least three minutes - no matter what:

1. If flatpak - uninstall.
2. Delete all $HOME/,config/BambuStudio
3. Delete anything that says "bambu" in $HOME/.local and $HOME/.var.
4. If flatpak - install it.
5. Start it and just keep clicking "wait" for a few minutes while u traverse the config and login screens. Just be patient.
6. Once u have configured and logged on - the "wait" still persists on startup and I have to click it at least twice before the software is responsive - so it takes at least 3 minutes before the software is usable.

But after this - it is usable. Ill see how it goes.
