Personally, I find it a bit unexpected for the first result to be visited on pressing Enter without it being explicitly selected. As a user, I wouldn’t anticipate that behavior. It might be more intuitive if pressing Enter had no effect unless a specific record has been navigated to or highlighted.

I think I agree with not selecting the first record, but with additional context. We’ll need to refactor that search experience to make it more native and support extensions better. We might even enable users to hit Enter after they type and they would be redirected to a “search” page where you can more easily browse the records. That will break the current “enter to visit the first record” pattern. Adrian ✌️
