Skip docker compose if the isRequiredBy tasks are skipped (up to date or from cache)?

From my usage it looks like the docker compose still runs even if the isRequiredBy tasks are skipped for up to date check, or build cache. Is this expected behavior or I was using it wrong? If it's expected, could we have an option alongside isRequiredBy to skip docker tasks if the dependent tasks are skipped?
