argocd-bootstrap

This is an start up repository for ArgoCD. It contains a Helm chart using the app-of-apps-pattern. The goal is to setup a production like set of workloads ( ingress, database, monitoring, etc ).

Prerequisites

• Kubernetes cluster
• Setup argoCD

# install ArgoCD in k8s
kubectl create namespace argocd
kubectl apply -n argocd -f https://raw.githubusercontent.com/argoproj/argo-cd/stable/manifests/install.yaml

# access ArgoCD UI
kubectl get svc -n argocd
kubectl port-forward svc/argocd-server 8080:443 -n argocd &

# login with admin user and below token (as in documentation):
kubectl -n argocd get secret argocd-initial-admin-secret -o jsonpath="{.data.password}" | base64 --decode && echo

Installation

Option 1: Install from GitHub Container Registry (GHCR)

# Install the chart directly from GHCR using OCI format
helm install argocd-bootstrap oci://ghcr.io/atrakic/argocd-bootstrap --version 0.1.0 -n argocd

Option 2: Install from GitHub Pages (Helm Repository)

# Add the Helm repository
helm repo add argocd-bootstrap https://atrakic.github.io/argocd-bootstrap
helm repo update

# Install the chart
helm install argocd-bootstrap argocd-bootstrap/argocd-bootstrap -n argocd

Option 3: Install from source

# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/atrakic/argocd-bootstrap.git
cd argocd-bootstrap/charts/cluster-bootstrap

# Install the chart
helm install argocd-bootstrap . -n argocd

Option 4: Add as ArgoCD bootstrap application

kubectl apply -f https://raw.githubusercontent.com/atrakic/argocd-bootstrap/refs/heads/main/argocd/bootstrap.yaml

Custom values

Check values.yaml and adjust as required. You can override values during installation:

# Using GHCR
helm install argocd-bootstrap oci://ghcr.io/atrakic/argocd-bootstrap --version 0.1.0 -n argocd ## -f custom-values.yaml

# Using Helm repo
helm install argocd-bootstrap argocd-bootstrap/argocd-bootstrap -n argocd -f custom-values.yaml
