fix(desktop-proof): use immutable existing Default Switch - #723
Conversation
The protected Windows proof was blocked because the broker assumed a custom switch that conflicted with the host-network cleanliness boundary. Trust the existing internal Default Switch only when its complete canonical state remains unchanged across teardown. CHANGELOG: Protected desktop proof can use the existing internal Hyper-V Default Switch without creating or mutating host networking.
Project every non-session Hyper-V extension property into the canonical inventory and require the created VM adapter to remain attached to the captured switch GUID. CHANGELOG: Harden desktop proof against same-name switch replacement and hidden extension drift.

WalkthroughThe desktop-proof boundary defines an immutable internal ChangesVM switch boundary enforcement
Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~60 minutes Merge Risk: 🟠 High · up to The change strengthens desktop proof by requiring the existing Default Switch to remain unchanged, but the current implementation can still accept a proof run if switch state changes and is restored before the final snapshot, potentially producing a trusted receipt for an invalid boundary. Merge should wait for this detection gap to be fixed; the security documentation also needs to reflect all enforced physical-binding checks. Sequence Diagram(s)sequenceDiagram

Keep the no-mutation AST proof portable while retaining dynamic installed-family completeness on Windows. An absent Hyper-V module now produces explicit empty inventories instead of a misleading null command entry.
A passing-only fixture could not prove that receipt validation rejects a teardown hash omitting the switch-inventory verdict. Add the negative mutation so the consumer contract demonstrably fails closed.
The control described only the singular physical-adapter description even though the broker rejects three binding projections. Name each signal so audits verify the full enforced boundary.
Summary
Default Switchas the exact trusted desktop boundaryGet-VMSwitchfrom the Hyper-V switch command familyWhy
PR #711 cannot use the old custom external switch without violating the host-network cleanliness boundary. This prerequisite lets the trusted broker attach the disposable VM to the existing internal
Default Switchonly when its complete state remains unchanged.Tradeoff
This intentionally fails closed if any Hyper-V switch state changes during a proof run, including unrelated host changes. The conservative failure prevents hidden network mutation from being accepted as desktop evidence.
