Combat Lab

Combat Lab is a rule-safe RuneLite combat analytics plugin built around personal performance rather than boss-specific instructions. It automatically turns ordinary NPC fights into useful records, grades, loadout comparisons, combat-reserve estimates, and weapon mastery.

Highlights

  • Automatic NPC fight detection with no manual start button.
  • Live HUD with fight time, damage, DPS, damage taken, supply cost, reserve, special energy, and detected loadout.
  • Post-fight kill cards with grades, personal-best detection, max hit, non-zero hit rate, and mastery level.
  • Personal grading against your own historical performance for that NPC.
  • A/B loadout comparison using actual DPS, time, damage taken, and supply cost.
  • Combat reserve infobox estimating healing, prayer restoration, equipped ammunition, and special energy.
  • Optional low-reserve screen flash and RuneLite notification.
  • Persistent day, week, month, year, and all-time statistics.
  • Per-NPC encounter records with kills, deaths, PB, average DPS, supply cost, and max hit.
  • Local weapon mastery with damage, kills, max hit, and unique NPC species.
  • Recent-fight history and a one-click shareable fight summary.
  • Personal stats appended to NPC examine actions.
  • Simple and Analyst panel modes.

Rule-safety design

Combat Lab does not:

  • click, switch prayers, change gear, or send game inputs;
  • provide boss-specific live instructions;
  • mark safe tiles or solve mechanics;
  • predict attacks or tell the player what action to take next;
  • upload player data to an external service.

All analysis is local and is primarily descriptive or post-fight.

How tracking works

A fight starts when the local player interacts with a combat NPC or applies a personal hitsplat to the current NPC target. It ends on the target's death, the player's death, or a configurable period of disengagement.

Damage is taken from RuneLite hitsplat events. Food and potion cost is counted only when the player manually selects Eat or Drink during an active fight. Equipment is captured at fight start and converted into a local loadout signature.

Grades are deliberately personal: after enough history exists, performance is compared with the player's own previous results against the same NPC. The grade does not claim to represent a globally optimal strategy.

Development

Requirements:

  • Java 17 or newer to run the included Gradle wrapper (the plugin targets Java 11 bytecode)
  • Internet access for Gradle to fetch the latest RuneLite API

Commands:

gradlew.bat test
gradlew.bat build
gradlew.bat run

run launches RuneLite in developer mode with Combat Lab loaded as an external plugin.

Privacy

Fight history, aggregates, loadouts, and mastery are stored locally in RuneLite configuration. Combat Lab has no account system, web API, webhook, or telemetry.
