Description

Open tasks and questions:

• Are there any new metrics or changes not yet mentioned, e.g. regarding the shorter expiration of licenses, like the web UI?
• Do we already support a custom registry to pull the Data Platform images from instead of using a zipped platform package?
• For Starter deployments, should we recommend not using -e ARANGO_LICENSE_KEY unless for e.g. air-gapped environments and link to the license management page for how to activate a deployment using the Platform CLI tool?
• Do we issue licenses that are valid for more than 2 weeks for customers with air-gapped environments?

Note

Adds docs for GET /_admin/deployment/id and overhauls license management to credentials-based activation/key generation, with related release notes and Data Platform setup updates.

• HTTP API (Administration):
  • Add GET /_admin/deployment/id endpoint docs with example and schema (3.12.6).
• License Management:
  • Rewrite guides to use credentials-based activation and CLI-driven key generation; add steps for activation, inventory, deployment ID retrieval, and key generation; adjust UI/arangosh/cURL examples and cross-refs (rename to “Apply a license key”).
• Release Notes (3.12):
  • Note deployment-bound licenses and new /_admin/deployment/id endpoint (API changes, What’s New).
  • Add section on new license management model and shorter validity (Incompatible Changes).
• JavaScript API:
  • Update db._setLicense() doc link text to “Apply a license key”.
• Data Platform:
  • Switch Kubernetes secret to license credentials (client id/secret); bump versions (cert-manager 1.19.1, operator 1.3.2), ArangoDB image 3.12.6; note CLI availability on Windows.
