can the openjdk-headless packages be added as dependencies? #14387
Currently, the packages java-17-openjdk or java-21-openjdk are defined as dependencies for the CloudStack components. This results in the installation of a large number of additional packages for graphical components that are not needed (especially on production systems).
Is it possible to add the respective -headless variants as an option?

The requester asks whether CloudStack packaging could depend on the -headless variants of java-17-openjdk/java-21-openjdk instead of the full JDK packages, to avoid pulling in unnecessary graphical dependencies on production (typically headless) systems. A maintainer (@weizhouapache) has already agreed this is a good idea.

Suitable
Maintainer has confirmed agreement with the approach; the change is well-scoped (swap JDK package dependency names to -headless variants in packaging specs/scripts) and self-contained.

💡 Notes and suggestions
Likely implementation locations: RPM .spec files and Debian control/packaging scripts under the packaging/ directory where java-17-openjdk/java-21-openjdk are declared as Requires/Depends.
Should verify -headless packages are available across all supported distros/versions (CentOS/RHEL/Rocky, Ubuntu/Debian) before switching, and confirm no CloudStack component actually needs AWT/graphical JDK libraries at runtime.
Since a maintainer already agreed, this could be a good "good first issue" / help-wanted candidate for a contributor PR.
