    @yurukusa

    This is a known issue introduced in v2.1.78. Writes to .git, .claude, .vscode, and .idea directories now prompt even with bypassPermissions enabled.

    An Anthropic team member confirmed a fix is incoming in #35646.

    If you're seeing prompts for files outside those protected directories, that's a different issue — could you share which specific files/paths trigger the prompt?

    This fix referenced above might of fixed it, but clearly did not fix it... or it regressed. either way as of 2.1.84 it's happening again :-(.

    @interconnectedMe

    Still broken on v2.1.84 in the VSCode extension. I've tried everything — defaultMode in settings files, PreToolUse hooks returning permissionDecision: allow, the VSCode initialPermissionMode dropdown — and I still get permission popups for .claude/ directory operations. It is driving me absolutely crazy. The whole point of bypass mode is to bypass.

    I found the fix on my side: moving the project folder out of the .claude directory fixed it instantly. Works with v2.1.85

    Example in PowerShell:
    Move-Item "C:\Dev\.claude\my-project" "C:\Dev\my-project"

    It's pure madness, how can it be that for months a company with billions of dollars cannot assign someone to fix the permissions?
