Unknown Internal Error, when installing and managing extensions

Receiving this issue with any action within the Extension dialog, an alert message occurs when trying to install or remove or manage my extensions, "Unknown internal error".

Developer Tools console shows: Unknown installation error extensionManager domain is undefined /extensibility/Package.js:408

OS: Mac 10.9.5 (Build: 13F34) Using Chrome 38.0.2125.111 (Build:290379) JavaScript V8 3.28.71.17

Same here, even without using extensions.
When I look through the Developer Tools, I also see the following errors:

• Failed to watch root: /.../ Max connection attempts reached
• Unknown installation error extensionManager domain is undefined

Using OS X 10.9.5

sounds like node has gone offline in both cases. can you try restarting brackets to see if that helps?

you may want to reboot and reinstall if that doesn't fix it.

I've been hitting this same error lately.It happened just today, but instead of it happening Brackets had been open for a bit, it happened only a few minutes after opening. Restarting Brackets fixes it every time.

@JeffryBooher I have reinstalled and rebooted twice still with no luck and still receiving this error!

Same error, reinstalling has no effect (removing appdata folder too).
Windows 8.1 Pro

My issue's firewall related, even though Brackets + Node were permitted complete access.
Any other process I should exclude so I don't have to disable firewall?

I tried to reproduce this issue without success. I have killed the node process and that resulted in the same error (as expected).
I have enabled the Firewall to see if this makes a difference, but it's not having any impact (at least not on OSX).
@connerturner It would be good to see if there are any crashes logged in the Console.app? This might give us an idea what's going on. Can you search for 'Brackets-node` in your logfiles (in Console.app)? Is there anything logged?

I fix the problem by delete the brackets folder in /Library/Application Support/Brackets

i have this same problem in Windows 10 x64, i have to disable firewall completely in order to make the extensions get installed

@Nosthertus : do you know which firewall ports / services it was trying to access ?

@jmls actually. no... i don't know which ports it uses, i noticed it uses node.js for this matter, but for some reason it only works when firewall is disabled

I solved the problem by "Run as administrator".

SOLUCION EN WINDOWS 7
Descargar la extension de la web, ejemplo:
https://github.com/dnbard/brackets-documents-toolbar
expandir el archivo comprimido en su carpeta en:
C:\Users\tuusuario\AppData\Roaming\Brackets\extensions\user
Esta carpeta se las indica la aplicacion BRACKETS en su menu...AYUDA...ABRIR CARPETA DE EXTENSIONES.
(es una carpeta oculta).... para verla.. en el explorador... habilitar: ORGANIZAR... OPCIONES DE CARPETA Y BUSQUEDA...VER.. MOSTRAR ARCHIVOS , CARPETA Y UNIDADES OCULTAS)
importante!!: que al descomprimir NO quede duplicada una carpeta dentro de otra, es decir:
C:\Users\tuusuario\AppData\Roaming\Brackets\extensions\user\extension1\extension1

Cerrar la aplicacion Brackets y volver a abrirla.
PRONTO!!
