Enhance block selection feature, like for ex. in Eclipse

Would be cool if the "block select" feature (shift + alt select) would work like for example in Eclipse (when you press ctrl+alt+A and then you start select). In Eclipse the block selection goes beyond the line sizes and select the block of the screen basically, as the user would expect to have. And the cursor would never start selecting from the beginning of the line when reaching the end of the line. The feature is much more clear and useful than the current implementation in brackets.
