Rename on Second Click

There's no easy way of renaming files you create in Brackets without saving them, annoying when you have 3 Untitled.js files in the sidebar.

As a user, I'd like to be able to rename files by double clicking their titles in the sidebar, or by double clicking the file's title on the menu bar.

Potentially a feature for the next sprint?

Hey Kraig - have you tried right click? Is that easy enough (already in)? If not it might be an easy implementation - if selected click again should enable rename.

Nope, doesn't let me. I'm on a Mac by the way if that helps.

@KraigWalker -- Just to clarify--the context menu (via right-click or double finger-click on the touchpad) should have a "Rename" menu item in it. Is that not what you're seeing?

Ahh... it only appears on items in folders in the sidebar, not the working set. Is this intended?

The next release will have it in the working set context menu as well -- see pull #1919.

Thanks again for trying to fix this one issue (pull request: #2356).

Unfortunately, Several bugs were opened:

• Unexpected file rename is triggered when right clicking on the active file in the working set (UTR until #2356 re-enabled) #2394
• File rename behavior feels strange (UTR until #2356 re-enabled) #2411
• unlogged - Rename mode entered after executing: Navigate > "Show in File Tree"

So, this change was disabled:

• Disable Rename on Second Click #2417

I tried to fix the problems (#2412), but this turned out to be much more complicated that we originally thought, so I'm going to stop working on it for now. Read the comments in that pull request for further issues and some proposed solutions.

Please let us know if you would like to try to fix these problems. You are welcome to continue working on the branch that I started. Otherwise, I will open new item on our Backlog for this.
