Firefox: Options page MD preview not rendering on load

The button works after the page loads, but it should be (and was) rendering immediately.

Edit: Maybe this is only true when the extension is installed normally? When I use it laid out on disk the rendering is fine.

Idea: I bet the problem is the presence/absence of the test code. The XHR failure might be messing up subsequent JavaScript.
