Compiling on Ubuntu 26.04 fails...

Description of bug

Hi,

I tried to compile v.4.2.0 on a new Ubuntu 26.04 VM with the necessary packages and spades_compile.sh fails at this step:

make[2]: *** [common/io/binary/CMakeFiles/binary_io.dir/build.make:79: common/io/binary/CMakeFiles/binary_io.dir/graph_pack.cpp.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [CMakeFiles/Makefile2:2922: common/io/binary/CMakeFiles/binary_io.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [Makefile:166: all] Error 2

An install on a Ubuntu 24.04 VM with the same exact packages compiles a-ok.

Any guidance appreciated ;-)

To the best of our knowledge, SPAdes compiles fine on Ubuntu 26.04. Will you be able to attach the complete log?

Hi,

No log is generated that I can find in the folder... I tried installing in 26.04 and 24.04 freshly created VMs and repeated the results: it works a-ok with 24.04 but 26.04 fails. I found a peculiar behaviour of the spades_install script: when I tried again, it stopped working after the initial failure. Doing this again, I was able to go a little bit further then Try #2 into the compiling but than it always stopped at the same step.
