Note: Students should be familiar with the Java programming language, XML, and source control with git & github.com
This class covers core concepts of mobile application development with a focus on Android. Course materials and assignments will cover the main topics Android mobile developers are expected to know, and students will learn to:
- Design, develop, & deploy a native Android application,
- Account for different mobile-device form factors and OS versions,
- Account for mobile-specific UI & performance constraints
- Interact with external services for data & location
There is no required textbook for this course. We will make use of numerous online resources including:
Students will need the following resources:
- A computer w/ Android Studio 2.3 installed
- A Google Play developer account ($25 one-time fee)
- A github.com account
