Eg a wreck with a lot of metal might show up blue, without econ mode enabled. What probably happened is previously visible wreck was blue, but then got removed incorrectly, and now the new wreck is blue. Toggling econ view fixes it. The issue is probably that there is some sort of "model reuse" thing going on, so whatever it is is "registered" in the "shader" (or graphics card?), rather than featureDefID reuse.
