Battle for Refrina Station
The Battle for Refrina Station was an engagement involving the LKF supply station "Refrina" and a hostile TFK fleet that attempted to capture the station.
Refrina station was a supply station in an asteroid cluster relatively close to TFK-controlled space. After locating the Station TFK sought to take it and use it as a refueling and refining station for themselves, as it would allow for TFK blockade runners and transports to refuel en route to REC controlled space, instead of having to run through LKF blockades that guarded the shorter and more commonly used routes to REC controlled space. TFK sent out the Sigmus, a Beralter class light cruiser, and a Morgen torpedo boat along with a contingent of Strahls to support the Sigmus. At the station, LKF had 3 old Brevis Mk.III class corvettes. However, the Ignis Mk.II was en route to re-arm at the station at the same time TFK launched the attack.
As soon as TFK got close all the Strahls were launched and sent to suppress any enemy fighters that were present, which they did easily as the LKF defenders had only a few old Altos waiting to be refitted. The Morgen and the Sigmus engaged the 3 corvettes, crippling one before they had time to react. The Strahls then began to attack the corvettes once the Altos were dealt with, and soon after that, all 3 Brevis corvettes were down for the count. After taking the station with a boarding party TFK signaled for a repair crew to come and repair any damage to the station as well as reinforcements to defend against a possible counterattack. However, the signal never got out as the Ignis showed up just before it was sent and utterly destroyed the Sigmus and one of the Strahls, whilst the Morgen and the 2 remaining Strahls escaped.
This battle was odd for both sides, TFK wasn't able to capture the station, but during the attack it was damaged enough to deem it non-operational by LKF, and it would be a while before LKF could repair the station completely. So in a sense, it wasn't a complete loss for TFK. At the same time LKF learned two things, they needed to upgrade their older ships and use more modern weaponry as opposed to the older and outdated weapons on all 3 Brevis corvettes. At the same time, LKF had been able to successfully combat test the Ignis Mk.II and destroy a TFK light cruiser, which was a big hit on TFK. However, despite losing a light cruiser, the battle was deemed a partial victory by TFK.
