Xcode 26 Beta 5 does not show up #738

Description

@MattKiazyk

Starting in Xcode 26 Beta 5 (released today) - Apple is providing 2 variants (Universal + Apple Silicon only) Xcode builds.

This is causing an issue where it's not showing because of the way xcodereleases.com json is being generated and having duplicate versions (which are not pre-release/release style).

    Great work @MattKiazyk for opening the issue on the xcodereleases repo.

    The Xcode Releases data should now have what @MattKiazyk needs for this.

    For context... the "duplicated" entries for the different architectures are how I handled this the last time it came up with Xcode 12.0 beta 2, as well as Xcode 4.1, which had different versions for Snow Leopard and Lion.

    Thanks. I used to run the command like: xcodes download "26.0 Beta 4"
    How can I download 26.0 Beta 5 Apple Silicon now?

    Update: Never mind. I'll wait until they get listed in Xcodes app first.

    For days I couldn't see Beta 5 at all, but just today it's show up. BTW, I'm running this on a Mac Mini m4

    On my sides, Beta 5 is still missing, it just shows versions until Beta 4.
    I am running xcodes on a Macbook Pro 16" Intel i7

    For me, the Beta 5 appears only when the datasource is the official Apple release list, not when it’s xcodereleases.

    I wonder if this is why we also see duplicates under platforms in the Xcodes app. For myself I installed beta 5 via selecting Apple as the download source (Unknowing they now have two different versions) but then ran into an issue as Xcode only installs the silicon platform for the simulator. I needed the universal platform but this doesn't appear to be an option.

    Under platforms however in the Xcodes app I can see multiple listings for the platform when the download preference is set to 'Xcode Releases' is this because one of them will be the silicon and the other the universal? If so this would be handy to have a note against them for the platform.

    Never mind I see this has already been picked up. #730

    Duplicates for platforms will also be fixed soon - please be patient. 🙏 Note that in order to see the proper variants you have installed you'll need to have Xcode 26 as the active Xcode as it uses xcodebuild command that only has the variant search in those versions.

    Workaround is to install the platform via Xcode if you wish to have the Apple Silicon version.

    Same issue here. When can we expect that Xcode 25 Beta 5 will appear when using xcodereleases as a data source?

    @arthrex-rfazio

    not only that it doesn't show up when you select Xcode Releases as the data source, when you switch to Apple, only one Beta 5 shows up. Apple is now releasing two different binaries for Xcode, one is Silicon only build and one is both (intel + silicon).
    I think you guys need to fix that too. Most of us would probably never touch the Intel one anymore.

    Is there anything we can do to help get this done?

    Same issue with Beta 5 and now with the newest Beta 6, not on the list.

    I still don't see any betas after v.4:

    For the time being you can install xip from xcodereleases manually (and it will show up in xcodes) or switch your source in Settings > Downloads > Data Source

    @BrentMifsud

    seems its happening with beta 6 as well.

    I've had to manually download the latest Xcode betas directly from apple because Xcodes does not seem to be getting the new betas anymore.

  20. itsmuntadhar commented on Aug 26, 2025

    @itsmuntadhar

    Same here, no beta newer than Beta 4

    A workaround:

    Go to settings (cmd+,), then the Downloads tab, select Apple for the source instead of Xcode Releases

    refresh the list and now you see newer beta versions

    For those following along a new v3 beta 1 is available to download which will fix this issue.
