Use analytics to develop first-party popularity metrics #3599

Open

Description

Description

Summary

Use data collected from Plausible analytics events to get an idea about the popularity of media items based on impressions and usages.

Detailed description

This can help us fill in the gaps where providers do not provide popularity info and even for those that do, this can augment that data. Having more information about popularity can help us create additional sorting bases for search like "interesting" or "most viewed" (~ #3584) and also improve the quality of our results.

Having this also makes it possible for us to identify some interesting items in our catalog like the "most downloaded image" or the "most replayed audio" etc., which make for really interesting social media content.
